The International Day of the Girl Child was observed across the world on 11th of October 2017 with the theme of EmPOWER girls, during and after crises.
There are 1.1 billion girls in the world and every one of them deserves equal opportunities for better future.
Most of the girls face disadvantage and discrimination on a daily basis, and those living through crises are suffering even more.
Every 10 minutes, an adolescent girl dies as a result of violence.
Adolescent girls in conflict zones their voices to fight for their right and protection in all contexts.
Previously, The United Nation declared 11th of October as the International Day of the Girl Child to help stimulate worldwide enthusiasm for better Girl’s lives, provide an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential.
The day recognizes Girls’ Child and the unique challenges girls face around the world.
