Bharat Ratna CNR Rao wins Von Hippel Award in material research
Bharat Ratna C.N.R. Rao becomes the first Asian to be chosen for the prestigious Von Hippel Award for his immense contribution in material research in September 2017
The Famous Eminent Scientist and Professor Mr. Chintamani Nagesa Ramchandra Rao (C.N.R. Rao) become the first Asian to be chosen for the prestigious von Hippel Award for his immense contribution in material research in September 2017.
The Award is the US Based Materials Research Society’s (MRS) highest Honor.
The Award citation noted CNR Rao's immense work on novel function materials, including Nanomaterial's (having particles of nanoscale dimensions), Graphene (the strongest and thinnest materials) and 2D materials, Superconductivity and Colossal Magnetoresistance (Change in electrical resistance of a material in the magnetic field).
Rao will be presented with the award on 29 November 2017 in Boston during an MRS meeting During an MRS meeting.
Moreover, Mr. Rao has also honored with the Bharat Ratna. The award is the highest civilian award in India which making Mr. Rao the third scientist to receive the award.
