India-Sri Lanka Mitra Shakti 2016 conducted at Sri Lanka
India-Sri Lanka fourth military exercise Mitra Shakti 2016 conducted at Sinha Regimental Centre in Ambepussa, Sri Lanka
These exercises will be conducted from 24th October to 6 November 2016.
The Indian Army had reached Sri Lanka on 23rd October where Indian Contingent represented by a platoon of Rajputana Rifles Regiment and the Sri Lankan Army represented Sinha Regiment.
The opening ceremony was conducted on 24th October where the troops of both the contingent participated in the ceremonial parade
In the first two stages, both the troops got familiar with the respective methodology of such operation, each other arms and equipment, command and control system.
The main aim is to enhance inter-operability while carrying out Counter Insurgency/Counter Tourism operations.23
The previous exercised were conducted at Pune in September.
