Balgangadhar Tilak: Lokmanya Tilak early life, participation in freedom struggle  

Keshav Gangadhar Tilak also knew as Lokmanya Tilak, was born on 23rd July 1856. 

He was an Indian nationalist, teacher, social reformer, and lawyer. He was the first leader of the Indian independence movement.

He was also known as The Father Of The Indian Unrest by the British authority.

He was felicitated with the title of Lokmanya, that means accepted by all. Thus also known as Lokmanya Tilak.

He completed his B.A degree in Mathematics from Deccan college Pune in 1877, he left his  M.A course midway in order to join L.L.B course and completed his course from Government Law college 1879.

He was married at the age of 16 to Satyabhamabai before the death of his father Gangadhar Tilak.

Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak's political career

Tilak had a long political career to bring Indian autonomy against British rule.

He joined Indian National Congress in 1890 and was against The consent Bill in 1891.

He wrote articles in Kesri and promoted Indian scriptures of The Bhagwat Gita, quoting against British acts.

Tilak strictly encouraged the Swadeshi movement and Boycott movement.

Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Shiv Jayanti was the major tools used by him in order to create national spirit among Indians.

He was the most prominent radical of his time and his contributions could not be forgotten.
