4 March National Security Day or Rashtriya Suraksha Diwas: Details, Aim, Significance

National Security Day is celebrated on 4th March since 1972, to observe the work and praise the work of various security forces in India.

National Security Day is also known as Rashtriya Suraksha Diwas. This day is dedicated to all the structures of India who are always working for peace and security of the people as well as country (India).

National Security Day is celebrated to encourage those who are working continuously for the nation and its security.

National Security Day recalls us of those innumerable security forces like the policeman, commandos, army officers and other people who are working for country’s security and there innumerable scarifies which they have fought against various external threats and internal rebellion.

Background

India has the world's third largest military force, with a strength of over 1.3 million active personnel.

National Security Council (NSC), the apex agency that looks into the country's political, economic, energy and strategic security concerns, was established by the then Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on 19 November 1998
