India-UK Collaborates To Launch Research Projects- Details, Features, Benefits

India in association with the United Kingdom launched research projects on ‘Water Quality Research’ and ‘Energy Demand Reduction in Built Environment’on 19th February 2018, in New Delhi.

The research projects were launched by Member of NITI Aayog, V K Saraswat, Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary of Department of Science and Technology (DST) India and Daniel Shah, Director of Research Councils UK (RCUK) India.

The India-UK research projects will be implemented with a total joint investment of up to 15 million pounds.

The India-UK research projects focus to bring mutual benefits and research solutions, besides these both the countries will address shared global sustainable development goals on clean water and clean energy.

The ‘Water Quality Research’ programme has eight projects. Its research would be significant in terms of the national missions on Ganga rejuvenation and Swachh Bharat. It is aimed to facilitate local communities, policymakers, regulators and businesses with the information and solutions they required to ensure the provision of clean water.

The ‘Energy Demand Reduction in Built Environment’ programme has a total of four projects. It is aimed at building energy efficiency and enhancing energy research work in both the countries. Its catalog is entitled as 'DST - Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) programme on Energy Demand Reduction in Built Environment'.
