Operation Greens Scheme By MoFPI : Launch , objectives and Need for the Scheme

This scheme was initiated by the Government of India in the Union Budget 2018-2019 with the aim to stabilise the supply of

Tomato, Onion,Potato,which are the top crops of the country.

The scheme was announced under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries of MoFPI and NAFED is the Nodal Agency which will implement the price

stabilisaton measures.This scheme fix the right prices for farmer's produce.The scheme provides financial assistance to Farmer Producer Organizations,

State Agriculture and other Marketing Federations,Cooperatives etc.

Objectives of Operation Greens Scheme

*Stabilisation of prices for consumers and producers.

*Reducing after harvest losses by creating farm gate infrastructure ,consumption centres and others.

*Increase in food processing capacities.

Need for Operation Greens

*To double the income of farmers.

*Improve the storage facilities.

*Farmers receive less tha 1/4 of the produce because there the link between processing and organized retailing in India is weak.
