International Human Solidarity Day on 20th December: Details, Aim, Significance, History

International Human Solidarity Day is observed every year on 20th December around the world to celebrate & promote unity in diversity. 

International Human Solidarity Day observance reminds people of the importance of solidarity in working towards eradicating poverty.

International Human Solidarity Day main purpose is to eradicate poverty and promote human and social development in developing countries, in particular among the poorest segments of their populations.

International Human Solidarity Day new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda focus on people & planet, underpinned by human rights and supported by a global partnership determined to lift people out of poverty, hunger, and disease.

International Human Solidarity Day was first declared on 22nd December 2005 by the UN General Assembly through its Resolution '60/209' that identifies solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values that should underlie relations between peoples in the 21st Century.
