2nd October: National Anti-Drug Addiction Day 2019 Theme, Details, Aim, Significance

National Anti-Drug Addiction Day is observed every year on 2 October across India to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to condemned the use of drugs.

National Anti-Drug Addiction Day aims to make India free from drug and to preserve the talent.

National Anti-Drug Addiction Day was established by the Union Government of India against the backdrop of growing drug addiction in India.

Drug Addiction

Drug addiction is one of the social hazards in most people, which starts off as a result of peer pressure and trying to be cool ends up affecting lives significantly.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) drug addiction causes chemical and structural changes in the brain, leading to dangerous and self-destructive behaviors.

Drug addiction strongly affects financial, physical, emotional, and social well-being.
