Anandiben Patel - Profile, Early life, Education, Achievements, Awards

Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel was born on 22nd November 1941, in Kharod village of Mehsana District, Gujarat. Her father was a teacher.

Anandiben Patel completed her schooling from N.M. High School in Ahmedabad. Later, in 1960 she went to pursue her B.Sc from M.G. Panchal Science College at Pilvai, Gujarat and Post graduation M.Sc from Ahmedabad in 1965.

Anandiben Patel having a keen interest in teaching also completed her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and M.Ed (Gold Medalist) from Ahmedabad.

Anandiben Patel, during her academic journey, she worked for social causes such as upliftment of widows in Mahila Vikas Gruh or to provide education to all the children of her extended family.

Anandiben Patel tied a knot with Mafatbhai Patel on 26 May 1962 and has two children Sanjay and Anar Patel.

Anandiben Patel, in 1970 started her career as a science and mathematics teacher and subsequently, principal at Mohiniba Kanya Vidyalaya, in Ahmedabad.

Anandiben Patel received several accolades and awards like "Veer Bala" Award for her outstanding achievement in athletics, Gallantry Award for saving lives of two school girls from drowning in 1987, Governor's Award and President's Award for best teacher in Gujarat simultaneously in 1988 &1989, 'Sardar Patel' Award by Patel Jagruti Mandal, Mumbai in 1999, 'Vidya Gaurav' Award by Shri Tapodhan Brahman Vikas Mandal in 2000, 'Patidar Shiromani' Award by the Patel community in 2005 etc.
