CWG:2018 Saina Nehwal Bags 26th Gold Medal While PV Sindhu Bagged Silver Medal in Women’s Singles Badminton Event

Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018

Saina Nehwal has bagged the 26th ‘Gold Medal’ for India, on the last day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's singles badminton competition held at the Carrara Sports & Leisure Centre on 15th April 2018.

PV Sindhu (22 years old) claimed ‘Silver Medal’ for India, on the last day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's singles badminton competition held at the Carrara Sports & Leisure Centre on 15th April 2018.

Saina Nehwal (28 years old) achieved the feat to top the podium by defeating PV Sindhu in an enthralling match of scoreline 21-18, 23-21. 

Saina Nehwal with her consecutive wins became the first Indian badminton star to win two ‘Gold Medals’ in Commonwealth Games.Earlier in CWG 2010, she had won the 'Gold Medal' in New Delhi. It was her second gold in this 21st edition of the CWG-2018 after she won the gold in team’s event.

Earlier, Saina Nehwal has defeated by 2014 silver medalist Kristy Gilmour of Scotland in their semi-final match with a finish of 21-14, 18-21, 21-17 in Saina's favor to made it to the finals.

PV Sindhu on the other part, in the semi-final match, had defeated CWG champion Canada's Michelle Li, winning the match in 28 minutes. 

Earlier in 2018, Saina Nehwal had bettered her record against PV Sindhu by defeating her with a scoreline of 21-17, 27-25 in the Senior Badminton National Championship.
