Cambridge Analytica Scam: Facebook Data Leak Impact

Cambridge Analytica, a company which worked for US President, Donald Trump’s in his 2016 political campaign has harvested data of over 5 crores Facebook users without their permission or consent.

Cambridge Analytica is now facing a government investigation of its London office, questions from U.S. state authorities, and a demand by Facebook that it submit to a forensic audit.

Cambridge Analytica CEO, Alexander Nix has been suspended.

WhatsApp co-founder, Brian Acton stated its time to delete Facebook and initiated a campaign which is been trending as #DeleteFacebook.

Social Media giant Facebook’s shares have fallen by 10% after the 3rd day of scam disclosure.

Facebook Founder & CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has made an official public strategy.

Facebook has released a list of measures it will take to prevent any such misuse in the future.

Facebook has been summoned by Germany, Brazil.

India, having the largest number of users of social media platform, Facebook (24.5 Billion) has also warned and questioned FB systems to rectify the issues as soon as possible.

Union Law & IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad issued a stern warning to Facebook on 21st March 2018 stating, "Mr. Mark Zuckerberg you better know the observation of IT Minister of India, if any data theft of Indians is done with the collusion of FB systems, it will not be tolerated.”

Ravi Shankar Prasad further warned Facebook of trying to influence India’s electoral process through undesirable means. “We have got stringent powers in the IT Act including summoning you [Mark Zuckerberg] in India".
