Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways, Piyush Goyal launches the 12thEdition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) for the year 2019 in New Delhi.
Global Innovation Index (GII) 2019 theme is “Creating Healthy Lives – The Future of Medical Innovation”. The index tracks innovation in government policies and industry practices.
Global Innovation Index (GII) ranked 129 economies based on 80 indicators, ranging from intellectual property filing rates to mobile-application creation, education spending and scientific and technical publications.
Global Innovation Index (GII) rankings are published annually by Cornell University, INSEAD (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires) and the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and GII Knowledge Partners.
India was ranked 52nd in 2019 with the score 36.58 out of 100 from 57th position in 2018.
