The Indian Air Force Day is celebrated every year on 8 October around India. This year in 2019, India celebrates the 87th-anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The Indian Air Force Day celebration aims to increase the awareness about the importance of Indian Air Force (IAF) as an important part of the national security

On Indian Air Force Day, Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrates the day with great excitement and valour at various Air Stations all over India and showcases Parades, Oath Taking Ceremony, Rifle Drill, Sky-diving, Air Show Exhibition of fighter planes and other equipment. 

The Indian Air Force Day was first celebrated in the year 1932 as an auxiliary Air Force of Indian Empire. 

The Indian Air Force since instituted has conducted various successful operations and wars as follows: World War II, Sino-Indian War, Operation Cactus, Operation Vijay, Kargil War, Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, Congo Crisis, Operation Poomalai, Operation Pawan and Balakot Air Strikes on JeM Terrorist camp in Pakistan.

Indian Air Force (IAF)

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is known as 'Bharatiya Vayu Sena' in Hindi. The President of India holds the rank of Supreme Commander of the IAF.
