Canada-European Union To Co-host World's First Female Foreign Ministers Meeting In September 2018

Canada and the European Union will together host the world's first female foreign ministers' meeting on 21st September 2018, in Canada. The meeting is scheduled to be held for 2 consecutive days.

The Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union made this official announcement on 22nd April 2018 at a joint press event in Toronto.

The female foreign ministers from about 30 countries will be invited to the gathering, which is aimed at deepening global discussion on women's empowerment.

Canada and the EU know that advancing gender equality is essential for both our economic prosperity and to global peace and security.

The first female foreign ministers’ meeting will be a unique opportunity to bring all women foreign ministers together to discuss today’s pressing global challenges and to harness the incredible expertise of this group of world leaders.
