PM Narendra Modi First Visit In Indonesia: Signed Several Agreements For Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a three-nation visit to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore for five days. 

The visit assumes significance in the light of India’s thrust on “Act East” policy under which New Delhi desires to enhance the bilateral relationship with the 10-member ASEAN grouping.

In the first leg of PM Narendra Modi visit, arrived in Indonesia, where he held a bilateral summit with Indonesia's President, Joko Widodo on 30th May 2018 at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta, Indonesia.

India and Indonesia on 30th May 2018, issued a joint statement on "Establishing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’, elevating their existing bilateral ties.

India and Indonesia also signed 15 agreements for cooperation in various areas including Science & Technology, Health & Medicine, Railways, Defence, Trade, Economy, Maritime Cooperation and Terrorism

PM Narendra Modi while addressing a gathering of Indonesian citizen and Indian diaspora at the Jakarta Convention Centre also announced a 30-day free visa for Indonesian citizens and invited the diaspora to travel to their country of origin to experience the 'New India'.
