The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare for the appointment of Ashish Kumar Bhutani, IAS (AM: 1992) for the post of CEO, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY).
Ashish Kumar Bhutani has been appointed to post till May 2020. He is an IAS officer (1992 batch) of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
About Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
PMFBY is a farmers’ welfare scheme launched in 2016 to ensure faster insurance services or reliefs to farmers. It was formulated in line with One Nation–One Scheme theme.
PMFBY aims to provide insurance coverage and financial support to farmers in event of natural calamities, pests & diseases. Stabilise income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming. Ensuring flow of credit to the agriculture sector. Encourage farmers to adopt innovative and modern agricultural practices.
