Niti Aayog to soon set up a committee redraw the poverty line to check its success in poverty alleviation measures.
The government has not till now formed a committee but soon the government will set up a panel and the main focus of the committee will be on the poor people of the country.
A task force was set up in the year 2015 headed by Chairman Arvind Panagariya which do not have a clear idea of poverty line.
The task force gave some proposals regarding poverty line to propose using the number to calculate the achievement of social sector programmes which defines that 40% of the population is poor.
After this, the state government denies the poverty line telling the numbers are not the actual numbers and as a result, the government’s poverty alleviation schemes are not useful.
