NASA MMS made new Guiness World Record for highest altitude GPS

NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission made Guinness World Record for highest altitude GPS signal

NASA’s Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission has made a new Guinness World Record for highest altitude fix for a GPS Signal.

MMS satellites set the record at 70,006.4 kilometres above the surface.

This MMS mission uses four satellites that fly in a pyramid formation to map magnetic fields interact.

Accurate GPS helps to maintain tight formation and obtaining high resolution three-dimensional observations

For understanding the causes of magnetic reconnection, it is important to understand the phenomena around the universe from auras on the Earth, flares on the surface of the Earth and areas surrounding black holes.

This year MMS was also successful in achieving the flying separation of spacecraft in just 7 kilometres between four satellites.

MMS is giving new vision to understand Earth’s Magnetosphere.
