Hindi Bhojpuri writer Viveki Rai passes away in Varanasi 22 nov

 

 

A popular Hindi and Bhojpuri writer Viveki Rai passes away in Varanasi due to illness

Viveki Rai, a writer and a poet, was born on 19th November 1924 in Sonavani Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

One of the famous writings were Katra bi Aarzo in which he criticized the Indian emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975.

Viveki Rai's popular novel is Sonamati, Chunari Rangala and others published in Bhojpuri language

Viveki Rai was also honoured with Mahapandit Rahul Sansankrityayan Award in 2001 and Yash Bharti Award in 2006 for his outstanding contributions in Hindi literature.

Rai is also known as Hindi Lalit Nibandhakaar and a popular essayist who contributed more than 50 books in Hindi and Bhojpuri language.
