2019 Kumbh Mela Begins In Prayagraj, Allahabad: Details, Schedule, Significance, Celebrations, Facilities

Kumbh Mela is a religious festival gathering of devotees that is celebrated four times over the period of 12 years. This year in 2019 it is being held at Sangam river bank in Prayagraj (Allahabad) from 15th January 2019 to 4th March 2019 (Mahashivratri).

Kumbh Mela site of the observance rotating between four pilgrimage places on four sacred rivers—at Haridwar on the Ganges River, at Ujjain on the Shipra, at Nashik on the Godavari, and at Prayagraj (Allahabad) at the confluence of the Ganges, the Jamuna, and the mythical Sarasvati.

Each site’s celebration is based on a distinct set of astrological positions of the Sun, the Moon, and Jupiter, the holiest time occurring at the exact moment when these positions are fully occupied.

The Kumbh Mela 2019 at Prayagraj has attracted millions of pilgrims. It is estimated that about 15 crore pilgrims will come during the festival to take the holy bath of Sangam.

The Kumbh Mela has been organized in 45 sq km, Over 600 kitchens are built, 48 Milk booths, 200 ATMs, 4 thousand hot spots, 1.20 lakh bio-toilet, 800 special trains run, 300km Road made, 40 thousand LED, Tent hotels, and Parking area for 5 lakh trains
