Urban Affairs Ministry Introduces Light House Project Challenge: Details, Aim, Components, Prizes

Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has introduced a challenge for States and Union Territories to select six sites across the country for constructing the lighthouse projects under Global Housing Technology Challenge- India (GHTC- India)

This challenge has been launched to bring about a paradigm shift in the housing construction technology sector. The states and union territories that score the highest marks will be awarded lighthouse projects.

The states and UTs can send their applications in the prescribed format at the earliest and latest by 20 February 2019.

The selected states or UTs will then enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with the Urban Affairs Ministry to execute these lighthouse projects in their regions under GHTC-India.

The winning six states or union territories, which score the highest marks across the prescribed criteria, will be awarded lighthouse projects. The winners will receive central assistance to construct these projects as per Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) guidelines.

GHTC-India Challenge Components

The three key components of the challenge are as follows:

1.) Conduct of Grand Expo-cum-Conference

2.) Identifying Proven Demonstrable Technologies from across the globe

3.) Promoting Potential Technologies through the establishment of Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators- India (ASHA-I) for incubation and accelerator support.
