12th May: Mother's Day Celebrations Details, Aim, Significance, History

Mother's Day is celebrated every year on 2nd Sunday of May month in honor of the mothers and motherhood. This year, in 2019 it falls on 12th May.

Mother's Day was founded by Anna Jarvis in 1907. She succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914.

On Mother's Day people used to honor their mothers who have a great contribution in their lives and for whom they exist in this world. People give cards, gifts or flowers to their mothers, some prefer to dine out and some prefer to spend the whole day with their mothers.

Celebrations in Different Countries

In most countries, Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on the 2nd Sunday of May month, among them are USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, China, Japan, Philippines, and South Africa.

In Arab countries, Mother’s Day is celebrated on 21st March, while in East European Countries, it is observed on March 8th. In the United Kingdom & Ireland,

Mother’s Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent, which is the annual period of Christian observance that precedes Easter. This day is celebrated to honor motherhood, acknowledge the efforts of mothers and their role in the upliftment of the society.
