The Health Ministry of India is been planning to bring out a law to protect the patients’ health and medical information.
It also plans to set up e-health authority for regulation of data making it confidentially safe.
The government will propose law to remove the risk of leak of patient’s record and will set up Electronic Health Record (EHR).
EHR is the part of India’s Digital India Initiative where the data will be fed from all the hospitals and will enable the government to analyse health indications and can formulate the strategies or policies accordingly.
This Government authority will be responsible for the Integrated Health Information in India with the cooperation of consumers, stakeholders, healthcare providers’ policy makers etc.
The upcoming law will ensure a database that will consist of health record of all the patients which means that they do not have to undergo tests every time which will reduce the cost of the treatment.
