The International Day for the Prevention of Environmental Exploitation in War and Armed Conflict is observed every year on November 6th. The United Nations General Assembly established the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict on November 5, 2001, during Kofi Atta Annan's time as Secretary-General.

Every year on November 6th, the International Day for the Prevention of Environmental Exploitation in War and Armed Conflict is commemorated. During Kofi Atta Annan's tenure as Secretary-General, the United Nations General Assembly established the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict on November 5, 2001.

History of the day

The United Nations General Assembly recognized November 6th as the International Day for Preventing Environmental Exploitation in War and Armed Conflict in November 2001. The day is also known as World Day for Environmental Protection in Times of War.
