Government of India under Modi regime on 25th September 2019, has instituted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Award, the highest civilian award in the field of contribution to the unity and integrity of India.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Award will recognize notable and inspiring contributions to promote national unity and integrity and to reinforce the value of a strong and united India.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Award will be officially announced on National Unity Day, on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on 31st October 2019.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Award will be conferred by the President of India and it will comprise a medal and a citation.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Award will not be given to more than three people in a year and it would also not be conferred posthumously except in very rare cases.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel popularly called as Iron Man Of India was born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad village of modern-day Gujarat to Zaverbhai and Ladbai. Vallabhbhai, his father had served in the army of the Queen of Jhansi while his mother was a very spiritual woman.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel went to pursue a degree in law and traveled to England in 1910. He completed his law degree in 1913 from Inns of Court and came back to India to start his law practice in Godhra, Gujarat.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is a lawyer and a political activist, he played a leading role during the Indian Independence Movement.
