National Service Scheme (NSS): Objective of NSS
National Service Scheme (NSS) is a central scheme run by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The purpose of which is to provide all the young students with the opportunity to participate in community service activities and programs whether it be a 2-board student, a student of a technical institution, a graduate and a postgraduate or a university. The only purpose of the National Service Scheme is to provide experience in providing community service to young students.
Objectives of NSS:
1. Understand the community in which they are working.
2. To know the problems of the community and to include them.
3. Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
4. Develop the ability to distribute responsibilities at the group level.
5. Develop them to deal with emergency and natural disasters.
6. Practice national unity and social harmony.
7. To achieve leadership qualities and democratic perspective.
8. To achieve the skills of mobilization of community participation.
