Bandaru Dattatraya is the new Governor of Himachal Pradesh: Details, Political Career, Highlights

President of India Ram Nath Kovind, has appointed Bandaru Dattatraya as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 1st September 2019.

Bandaru Dattatraya will replace 'Kalraj Mishra' who was the Governor of Kerala since July 2019. Kalraj Mishra was appointed as the Governor to Rajasthan

Bandaru Dattatraya (72-years-old) was born on 26 February 1947 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. He holds graduation with a science degree

Bandaru Dattatraya's prior to this appointment served as the national vice-president of the BJP, labor & employment minister, and also as a Member of Parliament. 

Bandaru Dattatraya has also served as joint secretary of A. P. Cyclone Committee and general secretary for Voluntary Organisations, India.

Bandaru Dattatraya began his political career by joining Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1965.

Bandaru Dattatraya landed into controversy when he was charged with abetting the suicide of Rohith Vemula, a student at the University of Hyderabad.
