Bhagat Singh Koshyari is the new Governor of Maharashtra: Details, Political Career, Highlights

President of India Ram Nath Kovind, has appointed Bhagat Singh Koshyari as the Governor of Maharashtra on 1st September 2019.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari will replace 'Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao' who was the Governor of Maharashtra since 2014.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari prior to this appointment was Member of Parliament for Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar since 2014.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari (77-years-old) was born on 17 June 1942. He completed his Master's Degree in English and studied at Almora College, Almora of Agra University

Bhagat Singh Koshari is closely associated with the RSS. He also suffered a prison sentence during the 1977 emergency.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari served as National Vice President of BJP and BJP's first State president for Uttarakhand

Bhagat Singh Koshyari served as the 2nd Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2001 to 2002.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari also served as the Opposition Leader of the Uttarakhand Assembly from 2002 to 2007. 

Bhagat Singh Koshyari from 2008 to 2014, was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand.
