Luka Modric was born on 9th September 1985. He is a Croatian footballer and captain of the team. He plays for Real Madrid in Spanish league as a midfielder. Modric becomes the first Croatian player to win the best Fifa Football award after an outstanding year for club and country.
He played a key role in winning Real Madrid's third Champions League title in as many seasons.
He has captained Croatia to their first World Cup final. He won the Golden Ball at the tournament. Modrić made his international debut for Croatia against Argentina in March 2006 and scored his first international goal in a friendly match against Italy.
The two other finalists being Liverpool’s Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Juventus’s Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo. The Croatia midfielder won with 29 percent of the votes, Ronaldo (19 percent), Mohamed Salah (11.2 percent).
