Shruti Sitara won Miss Trans Global 2021 Award

Sruthy Sithara has won the title of Ms Trans Global Universe 2021, making India proud. The 25-year-old Kerala native is the first Indian to win the championship, which was won in an online competition.

Sruthy claims that she only expected to place in the top five in the six-month tournament, and that the title came as a shock to her. She expressed gratitude to her fellow competitors as well as her family for their support.

Meanwhile, several others, including Kerala Higher Education Minister Dr R Bindu, congratulated her. "Keralite Sruthy Sithara has been named Miss Trans Global 2021, a title she earned after a lengthy battle with biases and our society's restrictive thinking. Kerala can be quite proud of this achievement. Sruthy, I congratulate you.

"Since the tournament has been going on for so long, the participants have been keeping in touch through social media groups," Sruthy said in an interview. Because the pageant was done online this year, we were unable to meet in person. Meeting everyone in London, where the pageant was meant to take place, would have been considerably more exciting. However, neither the friendship nor the pressure were affected. I believe it was far more difficult to carry off online."

Sruthy is a project assistant in the Kerala Government's Transgender Cell, and she is from Kottayam.

"I was raised in a household that has always adored me. My mother is no longer with us, but my father, brother, and his wife have all been tremendously supportive. Unlike many trans people, I didn't have to go through a period of fighting in my neighbourhood because of them. In an interview with the Times of India, Sruthy observed, "Your family is your first society, and if they accept you, the rest of the world will have to follow suit."
