SCO Summit 2018 Concluded: Adopting Quigdao Declaration, PM Modi Back To India- Details, Major Highlights, Conclusion

The 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit concluded on 10th June 2018 in Qindago, China.

PM Narendra Modi returns back to India, after attending fruitful and successful 2018 SCO summit and conducting bilateral meet with China's President Xi Jinping.

MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS

The 2018 SCO summit concludes with the adoption of the Qingdao declaration. It was adopted by leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India (represented by PM Narendra Modi) and Pakistan.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also met & shook hands with Pakistani PM Mamnoon Hussain. This was India and Pakistan’s first summit as full members of SCO grouping.

The Qingdao declaration aimed for implementing a three-year plan to combat terrorism, separatism and extremism. It also calls for the implementation of the treaty on long-term good neighborliness, friendship and co-operation.

India on its part has refused to endorse China’s ambitious One Belt, One Road (OBOR) project as part of Qingdao Declaration at the 18th SCO summit.

PM Narendra Modi introduced a concept of SECURE: 'S' for security for citizens; 'E' for economic development; 'C' for connectivity in the region; 'U' for unity; 'R' for respect of sovereignty & integrity and 'E' for environment protection.
