PM Narendra Modi Government Dissolves Medical Council Of India (MCI) To Replace With National Medical Commission (NMC)

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, dissolved the Medical Council of India (MCI). An ordinance was brought to this, which was approved by President Ramnath Kovind on September 26, 2018.

The seven-member committee will see the functioning of the MCI until the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill passes from Parliament. Dr. V.K. Paul has been made its Chairman.

The Board of Governors consists of seven people, who are famous in their field of work.

Doctor V. Paul, who is a member of the Policy Commission and will take over as the Chairman of the Council.

The second member of the Board of Governors is Dr Randeep Guleria, who is posted as Director General of AIIMS.

The name of the third member is Dr Jagat Ram who is the Director of PGI Chandigarh.

The fourth member is Dr BN Gangadhar, while the fifth member is Dr Nikhil Tandon. Dr Gangadhar Nimhans is the director of Bangalore while Dr Nikhil Tandon is a professor of Endocrinology and metabolism in AIIMS.

The sixth member is named Dr S. Venkatesh who is working as Director General Health. The seventh member is Dr Balram Bhargava. He is the Director General of Indian Council of Medical Council for Medical Research.
