Senior Lawyer Indu Malhotra Directly Appointed As First Woman Supreme Court Judge

Senior lawyer Indu Malhotra (age 62 years old) was directly appointed as the judge of the Supreme Court of India.

Indu Malhotra took the oath of SC judge in the presence of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra on 27th April 2018.

Indu Malhotra appointment was made by the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

Indu Malhotra has now become the first woman lawyer to be directly appointed as a Supreme Court judge.

Indu Malhotra in the year 2007 became the second woman to be appointed a senior advocate by the Supreme Court of India, 30 years after Leila Seth first made history.

Indu Malhotra has authored the 3rd edition of a commentary ‘The Law and Practice of Arbitration and Conciliation, 2014 which was recently released on 7th April 2014.

Indu Malhotra is also engaged in several social and charitable works. She is also a Trustee of Save Life Foundation which is a Non-Profit Organisation (NGO).
