Swachh Survekshan 2020 League was launched on 6th June 2019. It was launched by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in New Delhi.
Swachh Survekshan 2020 League is a quarterly cleanliness assessment of cities and towns in India and will be integrated with Swachh Survekshan 2020,
The 5th edition of the annual cleanliness survey of urban India will be conducted between January to February 2020.
The Swachh Survekshan Survey 2019 will be a completely digital and paperless survey. The survey will be conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI) under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in a bid to encourage competition to improve sanitation.
The objectives of the Swachh Survekshan Survey are:
1. To encourage the large-scale participation of citizens.
2. To ensure the sustainability of the initiatives taken towards garbage-free and open defecation-free cities.
3. To foster a spirit of healthy competition among towns and cities to improve their service delivery to citizens and towards creating cleaner cities.
