Tamil Nadu Government recently on 10th December 2018, has launched a 24x7 toll-free helpline number '181' for domestic violence victims and sexual harassment.
This initiative was unveiled by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami. It has been developed at a cost of Rs 62.70 lakhs.
The initiative will help women facing domestic violence and sexual harassment at home or workplaces to contact and will provide emergency assistance such as police help, legal aid or medical services including an ambulance.
Apart from providing government aid to victims of domestic violence, this helpline would assist women in getting information on welfare schemes aimed at their benefit.
