ICC World Test Championship: India Tops Points Table After Series Win Against West Indies

India has acquired top spot on the ICC World Test Championship points table with a 2-0  Test series win against the West Indies on 3rd September 2019.

India has a total tally of 120 points from 2 matches. New Zealand and Sri Lanka follow with 60 points each. 

India beat West Indies by 257 runs in the second Test at Sabina Park, Kingston. India had earlier won the first Test by 318 runs in Antigua. This marks India's 8th successive Test series win over West Indies.

Background

ICC World Test Championship (WTC) is starting from 1 August 2019 and will see the top 9 Test teams in the world.

All these 9 teams will compete in 71 Test matches across 27 series, played over 2 years.

India began its world test championship campaign with its two-test series against the West Indies on 22 August 2019. 

ICC World Test Championship inaugural matches were started with the Ashes series between Australia and England at Birmingham on 1 August 2019.
