Nelson Mandela International Day was observed on 18th July 2018 around the world.

Nelson Mandela International Day-2018, this year marks the 100th birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary. The centenary year offers an occasion to reflect on Mandela's life and legacy and to follow his call to make the world a better place.

Nelson Mandela Foundation is dedicating the 2018 Mandela Day to action against poverty, honoring Nelson Mandela's leadership and devotion to fighting poverty and promoting social justice for all.

Nelson Mandela International Day-2018 theme is 'Take Action, Inspire Change'.

Nelson Mandela International Day main aim is to awake people around the world upto to their ability and responsibility to change the world for the better or making a difference in their communities.

Nelson Mandela International Day on 18th July was first declared by the United Nations in November 2009, in an effort to recognize the former South African President’s contribution to the culture of peace and freedom.

In December 2015, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) decided to extend the scope of the Nelson Mandela Day to promote humane conditions of imprisonment, to raise awareness about prisoners being a continuous part of society and to value the work of prison staff as a social service of particular importance.
