International Day of Peace observed on 21st September 2018

The International Day of Peace or 'Peace Day' is observed across the world on 21 September to acknowledge the efforts of those who have strived to end a conflict and promote peace.

The International Day of Peace day is also observed as a day of ceasefire.

The theme for The International Day of Peace-2018 is “The Right to Peace - The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70”. The theme celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 

The International Day of Peace symbols is peace dove flying with an olive branch in its beak is one of the most commonly featured symbols for the day. 

On International Day of Peace, people around the world take part in various activities and organize events centered on the theme “peace”.

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by adopting resolution 36/67.

The International Day of Peace was observed in September 1982. This day coincides with its opening session of UNGA which usually held annually on the third Tuesday of September. In 2001, UNGA had unanimously voted to adopted resolution for established 21 September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire.
