Road Transport Ministry: Ropeway, Cable Cars to start in all major cities of India: Details, Features, Benefits, Highlights

As per the sources, Union Road Transport Ministry has revealed that it is planning to soon start Ropeway and Cable Cars in all major & crowded cities of India.

For this, Government-owned entity Wapcos has partnered with Doppler, the world's largest ropeway maker company in Austria. Doppler firm leads in planting more than 15 thousand ropeways in different cities of the world.

Ropeway and cable car can be used as the last mile connectivity in crowded cities of India. They are also beneficial as environment-friendly vehicles as they run on electricity.

The use of ropeway and cable cars if started in the Indian cities, then the image of urban transport will be completely changed. At present, their use is only limited to selected areas in Ropeway's hilly areas, where most tourists ride them for adventure purpose or to travel to the religious places on the hills.

The biggest advantage of the ropeway and cable car system is that it will operate electricity so that pollution will not be there. Moreover, very few land acquisition will be required to implement this type of transportation system, as it will run over the land.
