The Indian Railways started SMS facility to book tickets from mobile which does not even require an internet connection.
To avail the service firstly register your mobile phone with www.irctc.co.in
The mobile number which user want to register with Railways must be the registered mobile number with the bank account.
To book a ticket via SMS a MMID code is required for the payment process and the MMID code will be generated with bank account or simply by mobile banking registration on ATMs.
Once, all this is done, the user can book the tickets by sending an SMS, ‘BOOK’ and number of tickets to 139.
The limit for the number of passengers is 06 and after the tickets are booked one will receive the message which has transaction ID, Ticket Amount, Service Charges, Total Amount and Seat Status.
To make the payment for the tickets one needs to send PAY IMPS IRCTC (User Id) to 139.
This SMS booking tickets will not only save time but enhance digital payments.
