World Malaria Day Observed On 25th April 2018-Theme, Purpose, Importance

World Malaria Day (WMD) is global day observed annually on 25th April 2018, in the world.

World Malaria Day is commemorated to recognize global efforts in order to control malaria.

World Malaria Day was instituted in May 2007 by the 60th session of the World Health Assembly, a WHO's (World Health Organisation) decision-making body.

World Malaria Day was instituted to provide "Education and Understanding of Malaria" and to encourage and spread information on "year-long intensified implementation of national malaria-control strategies, including community-based activities for malaria prevention and treatment in endemic areas.

World Malaria Day-2018 this year theme is ‘Ready to Beat Malaria’.

World Malaria Day-2018 theme marks the importance of collective responsibility and commitment to the global malaria community in bringing together people on working towards a world free of malaria.

World Malaria Day-2018 this year coincides with the activities that will mark WHO's 70th anniversary. 

Recently, Malaria Summit-2018 was organised on 18th April 2018 in London to suppress malaria across the Commonwealth member states.

Malaria is life-threatening mosquito-borne blood disease caused by Plasmodium parasite. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes.
