Dr. Rajiv Nigam Selected for The Joseph A. Cushman Award for 2022: Details, About
Dr. Rajiv Nigam, the former Chief Scientist of the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), has been chosen for the Joseph A. Cushman Award for Excellence in Foraminiferal Research in 2022. Dr. Nigam is the first Indian citizen to be honored with this honor. He was chosen for his remarkable contributions to the field of foraminifera (microfossil) study during the course of his career.
Dr. Nigam will be honored during the Cushman Reception at the 2022 Geological Society of America meeting, which will take place in Denver, Colorado, from October 9 to 12, 2022. In 1979, the Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research founded the Joseph A. Cushman Award.
About The Joseph A. Cushman Award
The Joseph A. Cushman Award recognizes established foraminiferologists who have made significant contributions to the discipline. The Cushman Foundation accepts suggestions of persons who have excelled in foraminiferology from anybody in the profession.
