In a significant rise for khadi and other handicrafts, Jharkhand is all set to become the first Indian state to have a dedicated mall for indigenous produces.
The Khadi mall would come up in Jharkhand's Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) campus area which is also giving way for the Ranchi Smart City.
Jharkhand Chief Minister, Raghubar Das while addressing the 'Karigar Panchayat' organized by the Khadi Board at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium informed that within 15 days, land in the HEC area will be made available to the Khadi Board to develop the country's first Khadi mall.
People in the Jharkhand villages are talented and so far 1.13 lakh artisans have been registered to be trained to make goods as per the needs of the market.
Jharkhand Khadi Board is providing these artisans with a market-place as well as other requirements like training, raw materials and many types of machinery in order to promote and encourage them in producing Khadi products.
