Indian Navy conducts its largest-ever coastal defence exercise 'Sea Vigil': Details, Features, Aim, Significance

Indian Navy, in participation with the Coast Guard, conducted a two-day defence exercise 'Sea Vigil' along the coastline from 22nd Jan 2019 to test India's preparedness against any attack through the sea route.

The "Sea Vigil 2019", it is the first ever exercise on such a large scale to condemn by anti-national elements to carry out an attack on its territory or against its citizens by infiltrating through the sea route.

The "Sea Vigil 2019" exercise is being undertaken along the entire 7516.6 km coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone of India and is involving all the 13 coastal States and Union Territories along with all maritime stakeholders, including the fishing and coastal communities'

The "Sea Vigil 2019" exercise aims to comprehensively and holistically validate the efficacy of the measures taken since the '26/11' attack in Mumbai. It also aims to simultaneously activate the coastal security mechanism across all states and union territories.

The "Sea Vigil 2019" exercise signifies aftermath of "26/11 of ten years.
