Indian Railways budget Allocated Rs 1.48 crore of Capex in Budget 2018

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has presented the General Budget- 2018-19 on 1st Feb 2018 in Parliament, New Delhi.

Arun Jaitley declared an allocation of Rs 1,48,528 crores for the Indian Railways 2018-19, the highest capital expenditure ever made.

According to Arun Jaitely, Indian Railways will be redesigned and expanded in creating security network for the augmented safety of passengers.

Indian Railways will now come up successively with Wi-Fi Networks, CCTV Surveillance and other modern facilities. All railways stations with more than 25,000 footfalls will get escalators and elevated corridors.

Arun Jaitely informed that Indian Railways has been secured with 12,000 wagons, 5160 coaches and 700 locomotives. It will also focus on maintenance and renewal of railway tracks (36,000-km) till 2019, Implementation in use of technology and Fog safety devices.

Arun Jaitely declared that reconstruction of 600 major railway stations has been taken up; Mumbai transport system is being expanded; Suburban network of 160 km planned for Bengaluru; An Institute has come up in Vadodara to train the manpower required for the high-speed railway projects.
