International Day for the Elimination of Violence Women Celebrations On 25th November 2018 Theme, Details, Aim, History   

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEVAW) is celebrated on 25th November around the world.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEVAW) observance aims to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, end the violence against the women. It also seeks to show that prevention is possible against the violence of women.

The IDEVAW 2018 Theme is Orange the World: #HearMeToo and like previous editions, the date marks the launch of 16 days of activism that will conclude on 10 December 2018, International Human Rights Day.

The orange color in the theme symbolizes a better future to women and girls all over the globe without the pervasive human rights violation which affects 1 in 3 women and girls all over the globe.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) had designated this IDEVAW day through a resolution 54/134 passed in December 1999. Prior to it, women’s activists across the world observed this day against violence since 1981.
