Indian Army first time opens vacancies for women in military police on 25th April 2019: Details, Significance, Process

Indian Army on 25th April 2019 started the online registration of women for recruitment as soldiers into the army police. The recruitment for ‘Soldier General Duty (Women Military Police)’ was initiated by the Army Chief General Bipin Rawat soon after he took over the post.

The appointment initiative of women in Military Police is a huge step towards further empowering women and improving their representation in the Indian armed forces. Till now, women were allowed in select areas such as medical, legal, educational, signals and engineering wings of the Army. 

Process

Application process: It started on 25th April 2019. The last date for application is 8th June 2019. 

Test: Candidates will first be given the Common Entrance Test, after which there will be Physical Endurance Test (PET). Through this recruitment process, 100 posts will be filled. 

Age limit: The minimum age of candidates for recruitment should be 17-17 years and maximum age is 21 years. 

Educational Qualification: In the subject of 33-33% or 45% of the total, 10th pass with or equivalent education
