According to a report by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), 27.1 million people have emerged out of poverty between 2005-06 to 2015-16 in India. This is a promising sign that can lead to global fight against poverty.

The rate of poverty reduction in India is among the highest child, poor states, tribals, and Muslims.
As a report, the poverty rate has decreased from 55 percent to 28 percent in these ten years. According to the report, the poverty rate in the country has remained almost half.

It is reported in this report that 1.3 billion people worldwide are living in multi-dimensional poverty, which is one-fourth of the total population of 104 countries compiled in MPI.

The UNDP manager, Asthemer Steiner said that although the level of poverty, especially in children, is shocking, therefore it is necessary to accelerate the efforts to tackle it.

Since the year 1900, the expectation of people to live the lives of people not only in India but in other South Asian countries has increased by 4 years and the expectation of living of people in India has increased 11 years. It is good to improve with multi-dimensional poverty.
