Rajnath Singh is an Indian politician who is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Rajya Sabha and current Home Minister of India since 26 May 2014.
Rajnath Singh also served as the Minister of Agriculture and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and also as a Cabinet Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government.
Rajnath Singh has been elected seven times as a Member of Parliament and three times as a Member of the Legislative Assembly.
Rajnath Singh was born on 10 July 1951India. He earned a master's degree in Physics with first division from Gorakhpur University.
Rajnath Singh is married to Savitri Singh and has three children. His son Pankaj Singh is General Secretary of BJP.
Rajnath Singh started his career as a physics lecturer and used his long-term association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to become involved with the Janata Party
Rajnath Singh served in several important positions as 19th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (28 October 2000-8 March 2002); Minister of Agriculture (2003–2004); Member of Parliament for Lucknow (16 May 2014) and Member of Parliament for Ghaziabad (16 May 2009 – 16 May 2014).
